It would appear the San Francisco 49ers will not have wide receiver Marquise Goodwin available this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams in the season finale. He sat out a second straight day of practice due to a calf contusion. He could still get work in on Friday, but with this being the final game of the season, I don’t see them pushing him back.
The 49ers will already be without Dante Pettis due to his MCL injury, and they placed Pierre Garçon on injured reserve earlier this season. The team promoted Steven Dunbar from the practice squad, and with Goodwin potentially out this Sunday, he could find himself fairly busy in his debut.
Kendrick Bourne will start on one side. Dunbar could start outside as well, although it would not surprise me if Trent Taylor was listed as a starter this week. Taylor has split time at the slot with Richie James, but Taylor also gets work outside. Last week he played 13 snaps in the slot and 13 on the edge.
The 49ers could still decide to promote another receiver from the practice squad. Max McCaffrey got some work last year due to injuries, and they also have Jordan Smallwood. They could move Pettis, Goodwin, or Matt Breida to IR to promote one of the two remaining practice squad receivers.
