This is it! This is Week 17, the final week of the NFL regular season. Next week begins the playoffs, starting with the wildcard rounds. The San Francisco 49ers play their final game Sunday and will not be a part of the festivities this year. The 49ers get going in the afternoon, which means we get another slate of A.M. games to enjoy.
No doubt the big one to watch will be the Seattle Seahawks against the Arizona Cardinals even though it’s going on when the 49ers are playing. This game has severe draft repercussions if the Cardinals can win. If they manage to and the 49ers lose to the Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers would have the first pick in the draft. That along with a few other wins/losses to mess up the Jets strength of schedule (among others) would solidify the 49ers for their pick and a possible Nick Bosa courting.
That said, the Jets play the New England Patriots. I think we won’t need to bother with rooting for the Jets there, they aren’t beating New England in New England. It’s just not happening. Beyond draft positioning games, I’d love to watch Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers have to root for a Browns win to make the playoffs. Considering that’s a division rival they are rooting for, I find that rather amusing. It’s nothing like Cardinals-Seahawks, as that’s a divisional game and there has to be a winner in that no matter which way you slice it.
