The NFL wrapped up Week 13 on Sunday, and the top of our rankings continue bouncing around. The New Orleans Saints looked like they might be emerging as the team to beat, only to lose to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. It was not a bad loss, per se, but it drops them behind the Los Angeles Rams in the fight for the top seed in the NFC.
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs continue chugging along, even after releasing Kareem Hunt. They are a game up on the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and New England Patriots. They seem to be the best team in the AFC, but they cannot afford to take their foot off the gas.
We’re back with Week 14 NFL power rankings, and as you might expect, the San Francisco 49ers remain near the bottom. The Raiders and 49ers have occupied the 32nd and 31st spot, respectively, dating back to Week 11. We have seen some movement just ahead of them, with the Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, and New York Jets each spending some time at 30th. The Jets currently occupy that spot, and we might see some rotation down there in the coming weeks.
The Dallas Cowboys had the biggest climb this week, winning their fourth straight to improve to 7-5 on the season. With Philadelphia’s Monday Night Football win over Washington to close out the week, Dallas holds a one-game lead over both teams. This coming week, Dallas hosts Philadelphia in a make-or-break game for the division. Washington is hosting the New York Giants, and given how awful they look with whomever will be their quarterback (Colt McCoy was lost for the season with a broken leg), they very well could lose that one. If Dallas beats Philadelphia, they will secure a season sweep of both teams immediately behind them in the division. It would not clinch the NFC East for Dallas, but it would all but lock things up.
On to the power rankings!
