The San Francisco 49ers released their Thursday injury report, and they made one notable change. A few players were bumped from limited to full (and Joe Staley from DNP to full after a rest day), but more notably, nickel back K’Waun Williams was added to the list with a knee issue. This is his first appearance on the injury report since a shoulder injury in Week 7.
Williams was not on Wednesday’s report, so this will be something to track when the 49ers return to practice on Friday. If Williams were unable to play on Sunday, one possibility would be to have D.J. Reed play nickel back and Antone Exum play free safety. If Williams can play, Reed would appear to be the favorite to start at free safety, with Exum coming off the bench.
