The San Francisco 49ers signed center Daniel Kilgore to a three-year contract on Wednesday, settling the center position for the time being. The team could still sign or draft another center for competition or development, but it seems pretty likely that Kilgore will be starting this fall.
The initial details on the contract came courtesy of Ian Rapoport. He reported the three-year deal as being worth $12 million total, with $7 million in guaranteed money. That APY ranks 15th based on contracts as of the end of the 2017 season.
We don’t yet know the make-up of the guaranteed money, but we do know his base salaries, courtesy of the NFLPA. He is due to make $2,525,000 in 2018, $2,225,000 in 2019, and $3,075,000 in 2020.
If his 2018 base salary is fully guaranteed, that leaves $4,475,000 in guaranteed money to be sorted out. My guess is he ends up with a fully guaranteed roster bonus and then remaining portion is guaranteed just for injury.
