Marquise Goodwin tweeted out a photo on Monday, showing him wearing the 49ers road white jersey, but then white pants with a red and white stripe down the side. The 49ers normally wear gold pants with both home and road uniforms (the black alternates being the exception).
I believe this photo is from the 49ers road game against the Houston Texans. I believe this is photoshopped (as opposed to him wearing a random pair of white pants in pre-game warmups), but I have to admit, I’m a fan. It bears a bit of a resemblance to the 1994-1995 uniforms without the black shadow, but it reminds me more of some of the late 50s and early 60s uniforms.
I’ve seen some suggestions that gold trim on the numbers and potentially the stripes would help, but that reminds me a little too much of the uniforms they wore from 1998 to 2008. I never liked the gold trim, and actually, when I played Madden in the past and they offered throwback alternates, I always liked using the older white and red uniforms. There’s something simple and slick about them.
What do you think?
