Marquise Goodwin tweets about racial slurs he received following work at Colin Kaepernick camp

People suck.

Jacksonville Jaguars v San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was one of several players to join Eric Reid and Eli Harold this season in taking a knee in protest against police brutality and social injustice. Earlier this week, he joined Colin Kaepernick at his Know Your Rights camp in New Orleans.

There was some publicity surrounding the event, and unfortunately but not surprisingly, Goodwin received some hate in response. On Friday, Goodwin tweeted about the responses he has received, including people using the N word and telling him to leave America.

It’s unfortunately not a surprising response to the work Colin Kaepernick and others are doing. Players have received death threats for their decisions to protest during the season. Kaepernick acknowledged as much during the 2016 season, and when the 49ers traveled to Buffalo in 2016, someone was selling t-shirts that featured Colin Kaepernick in a cross-hair.

It’s cowardly no matter, but the fact that this kind of response comes following work to educate young people is especially shameful.
