Jaquiski Tartt is predicting a huge comeback for himself

Tartt has been very active on social media hyping up what he believes will be a huge comeback year

The San Francisco 49ers have a big decision ahead of them regarding their safety position. Will they re-sign veteran Eric Reid or move forward with Jaquiski Tartt and rookie stand out Adrian Colbert? Whether they do or not, Tartt has been very active on social media predicting a huge comeback for himself in 2018. As things were starting to turn around for the team with Jimmy Garoppolo taking over as the starting quarterback, Tartt seemed to want to make sure no one forgot about him via Twitter and Instagram.

Tartt’s 2017 season started with a bang but was shortened due to a freak injury, breaking his arm a week after Jimmie Ward suffered nearly the exact same injury. He played in nine games before going on injured reserve. While Tartt has yet to start an entire season, he has stepped in when other players have been injured like Antoine Bethea in 2015 and Reid in 2016.

Tartt was set to have a potential break out season in 2017 prior to the injury. In the nine games that he played he registered 55 total tackles, 38 solo and 17 assisted tackles. He registered 0.5 sacks and one interception for 37 yards and three pass break ups. His season high tackle total was in 2015 when he racked up 65 total tackles, 52 solo and 13 assisted, playing in 15 games total.

Do you think he will play up to his own hype? The combination of Tartt and Colbert in the back field does sound like a pretty good combination and the 49ers may pass on re-signing Reid as a result of that. On the other hand, the injury bug has hit this position hard in the past so keeping Reid, or drafting a safety could be in the 49ers future as well.
