So Blake Bortles got an extension today. Not sure really if I should laugh or shake my head. The one thing to remember is, even though this keeps the Jacksonville Jaguars from drafting a quarterback, Bortles isn’t terrible enough to not get signed by another team in need of a quarterback if he walked. For everyone who thinks if the Jaguars let him walk, it’d create another QB need (and a trade with the San Francisco 49ers), need to remember a QB-needy team would be sure to sign him and probably not roll the dice on a quarterback in the 1st round. This changes nothing.
Plus from the looks of the deal it’s pretty cheap. We’ll find out how team friendly it is. For those of you worried that it removes a team from the QB market, it doesn’t, Bortles is good enough to have gotten paid elsewhere for the season he’s had, in fact he’d be a bargain for some teams.
Not much as far as 49ers news, so go out and enjoy your Sunday!
