San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch met with a small group of local media in Indianapolis and discussed a few promotions that are happening within the organization’s front office.

Keena Turner who spent the last 10 years as the Vice President of Football Affairs will keep his Vice President status but will now be the Special Advisor to the general manager. Turner was a member of four Super Bowl championships with the 49ers.

I don't think there’s a person in our building who understands the 49er way more than Keena. As we’ve talked about, one of the nice deals for us is, a lot of people, like when I was with the Bucs there was no pervious success that you could steal from. Here, there’s a lot of success. There’s a lot of parallels in our philosophies. Keena is a great link to those and we feel like he’s got great value.

Austin Moss II will now take over as the director of player engagement which assists players with their transition in an out of professional football. Moss worked in the league offices in various capacities centering around player engagement.

Ethan Waugh, who has been with the 49ers for over 14 years has been named College Scouting Director. Waugh was previously senior player personnel coordinator.

He’s worked tirelessly and really hard to really became the valuable cog in what we do. We felt like he earned that opportunity.
