Well, that was a hell of a game. The Philadelphia Eagles continued their wild underdog ride through the playoffs, knocking off the New England Patriots in a 41-33 shootout. There seemed to be few mistakes, with no turnovers or sacks for most of the game, but in the biggest moment, Tom Brady came up short. After Nick Foles connected with Zach Ertz to take a 38-33 lead, Brady was strip-sacked. The Eagles added a field goal and then Tom Brady was unable to do anything on the final drive.
Things started out slow, but it turned into a wild game in the second quarter. The Eagles went up by double digits three separate times, but like Jason, the Patriots would not die. New England eventually took a 33-32 lead, but the Eagles drove down the field and scored to take the lead. Congrats to Nick Foles on his likely MVP performance. It was really impressive work.
On the other side, we have Tom Brady losing his third Super Bowl. Brady is an all-time great, and I am fine with people calling him the GOAT, but obviously I’m going to enjoy this a little bit given the 49ers history and future. Joe Montana finished his career a perfect 4-0 in Super Bowls. Jimmy Garoppolo has two Super Bowl rings from his time with the Patriots, and it’s safe to say we are all just a little bit excited for the future.
And with that, we are on to the offseason! Everybody reverts back to the baseline, and it is Jimmy G time!
