Jaquiski Tartt joins the Malcolm Butler recruiting pitch

The full court press is on from the players.

The Josh McDaniels drama over the past 24 hours has made it easy to forget that Malcolm Butler is dealing with his own drama with the New England Patriots. Butler was benched for the Super Bowl, playing only one special teams snap, and leaving everybody wondering what is going on.

Tuesday afternoon, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Pierre Garçon tweeted at Butler about coming out to the Bay Area.

The tweet has been liked and retweeted by other 49ers players, and left tackle Joe Staley offered a thumbs-up to the idea. Now we have a member of the secondary joining the recruiting pitch. Safety Jaquiski Tartt tweeted this out to Butler Wednesday afternoon.

We have no idea what John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan think about Butler, or what the plan is for addressing the cornerback position. This year’s draft is considered quite deep at the position, but the 49ers also have big-time cap space if they want to make a splash in free agency.

Ahkello Witherspoon is a strong outside option, but they will need to find somebody to plug in opposite him. It’s safe to say the roster has their own thoughts on who it should be.
