Jimmy Garoppolo’s top 10 plays from 2017

The extension comes a year to the day after a pair of big contract signings.

The San Francisco 49ers have made the Jimmy Garoppolo signing official, announcing the deal this afternoon. The team will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. PT on Friday, at which point we’ll get to hear from the man of the hour.

It’s a fitting day to get this done. A year ago on February 8, 2017, Kyle Shanahan arrived in Santa Clara and joined John Lynch in signing six-year contracts. A day later they were introduced to the media. A year to the day after they signed, Jimmy Garoppolo formally signed his five year contract. A year to the day after Shanahan and Lynch met the media, the trio will talk about this contract extension.

I suppose now we have to wait for what excitement February 8, 2019 brings. Can you say ... victory parade? OK, I won’t get ahead of myself. The 49ers have a lot of work in front of them this offseason, and a whole lot of football to play.

In the meantime, I thought we could close out the day (barring further breaking news) with a look at how Jimmy Garoppolo got here. The official NFL Twitter account shared video of what they view as Jimmy Garoppolo’s top ten plays this past season. There are arguments to be made as to which plays should rank where, but there are some great plays to choose from this past season.
