The San Francisco 49ers may not be doomed. Our top Doomologists have been studying the trends, and working hard over some hot science. A once popular topic series on Niners Nation, the DOOM Index is reaching its end. Some say it’s already ended, with only sporadic appearances of late.
But our top scientists are still working hard, crunching the data, determining just how doomed the 49ers, and the rest of us, are at any given time. The anomaly known as Jimmy Garoppolo has altered the data in such a significant way, that it threw our projections out the window.
So we’re at a crossroads. The 49ers are not quite as doomed as we once thought. But then again, the data collected over two years can’t be contradicted so easily by just one man. There is doom out there. The 49ers might avoid it, they might not.

I’ll ask you, dear readers and non-scientists, for ideas for a new name for the DOOM Index, or I’m just sticking with the Garoppolo Index. The problem with that name is, in theory, that what it means to be Garoppolo can change over time. That is not the case for DOOM.
