After two and a half weeks in Vietnam, like Douglas MacArthur, I have returned.
My wife and I spent 18 days in Vietnam, and we returned to Washington, DC Friday afternoon. We ended up falling asleep by 8 p.m. Friday night, got up at 5 a.m. today, and I’m already looking forward to going back to sleep. Given the need to catch up on sleep, James will remain in charge through Sunday night, and I’ll be back and hopefully good to go Monday morning.
I’ve got a ton of pictures (over 1,000 on my phone, over 500 more on my wife’s bigger camera) and we’re going through them today and probably for most of the next week. Once I get an album together, I’ll post a link so people can see what I was up to for the past few weeks. Vietnam was all over the place. We learned a lot, we ate a lot of good food (only had a stomach issue once), and managed to not get killed by the scooters. In most of Vietnam, pedestrians effectively have no right of way. Scooters roll up on the sidewalk to pass other scooters, and when you go through an intersection that has no light, you basically just start walking and the scooters and cars will drive around you. Fun times! I’ll have plenty of pictures and videos to share in the next week or two.
Big thanks to James for all the hard work the past few weeks. It sounds like things were pretty busy, and part of this weekend will involve me catching up on all the news and rumors. I did not visit the site once during my time in Vietnam, and deleted Twitter, Facebook, Slack, and my Niners Nation and more general work email from my phone. It was nice to get away from everything.
James sent me a list of the notable pieces of news and rumors that went down, but feel free to use the thread to post some of your favorite stuff from the past couple weeks — articles, rumors, whatever. I’ll have plenty of catching up to do as I spent little to not time on the Internet during the trip, so anything you think is worth checking out, let me know!
