Report: 49ers, Colts, Giants the final 3 in on Andrew Norwell

The best guard on the market may still be favored to head to the Giants, however.

Pending free agent guard Andrew Norwell has many suitors, but the teams bidding for his services are reportedly down to three. The final three teams are the New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts and, of course, the San Francisco 49ers, according to Art Stapleton.

A follow-up from Stapleton, a Giants beat writer, suggests that the Giants are “still confident they will land Norwell,” but that they will have to beat out the 49ers and Colts. The Giants are “all-in on Norwell,” according to the report.

There was news out of the NFL Combine that Norwell to the Giants was a “done deal.” It’s unclear if the 49ers and Colts are making it interesting or if that was always really the case and that Norwell is destined for the Giants.

Norwell is definitely the top guard on the market and one of the best guards in the league, but any new contact for him will likely make him the highest-paid guard in the league. The 49ers might be more interested in cheaper options, but for now, they’re still in it, according to this report.
