The past two days have been incredibly busy with reports of free agents signing every which way. The new league year gets started at 1 p.m. and yet it feels like the bulk of free agency is over. Most of the big names appear to have settled on their destination, and the signings can become official at 1 p.m.
And yet, we all know free agency is far from over as it just gets started. Sure, a lot of big names will come off the board this afternoon. But the next tier at each position could be the difference-makers that come along at more reasonable prices.
The San Francisco 49ers have landed notable names like offensive lineman Weston Richburg and running back Jerick McKinnon, but there will be more signings to come. I could see another defensive back, a linebacker, and maybe some more competition at wide receiver. I don’t think we’ll see many huge impact players after this first wave, but I highly doubt the 49ers are finished with their free agency transactions.
We’ll be tracking all the notable news here, along with individual posts for particularly pertinent transactions and rumors. In the meantime, here are the 49ers offseason signings to date.
