The San Francisco 49ers elected to not enter a bidding war for Sammy Watkins or Allen Robinson, but that doesn’t mean they are not going to sign a free agent wide receiver. There are rumors about Jordy Nelson, and Terrelle Pryor joins the rumor mill. The former Washington wide receiver is being by the 49ers as well as the Rams and Browns, per Michael Silver.
This isn’t the first time the 49ers have had interest in Pryor, they were also in the mix last year during free agency, but didn’t get very far before he signed with Washington for one year.
The Browns just got Jarvis Landry in a trade with the Miami Dolphins while the Los Angeles Rams let Sammy Watkins walk in free agency. The 49ers just recently extended Marquise Goodwin’s deal for an additional three years and have Pierre Garçon and Kendrick Bourne in the unit as well. Pryor would not be a dedicated No. 1 wide receiver, but a nice addition.
Last year, Pryor had upside with a very nice campaign with the Cleveland Browns and was seen as a nice, but risky signing. Unfortunately, his second year with Kirk Cousins in Washington had him coming back to earth and he is not near as coveted as he was in 2017. Washington’s offense had some issues with consistency last year so that’s definitely something to consider.
