Not sure where to start with the fun today. Free agency is like a small practice session at Niners Nation where we make sure the machine still works before the long calm known as ‘the dead’ comes to claim us all. This would be my third FA with the site and it’s always a reflection of what happens during the season. Then things die down until the draft and we do it all again.
Yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers added themselves a new pass rusher. Jerry Attaochu from the San Diego Chargers. To be completely honest, I never heard of the guy until I heard of the signing and started some research (based on the thread, I’m not the only one). For the money, it seems like a decent signing. I still scratch my head with the loss of Elvis Dumervil, but for some reason, I feel optimistic about the signing. Regardless of pass rushing, he may get a go at the SAM position and compete with Eli Harold. Harold did OK last season, you never heard from him (which is a good thing for the SAM depending on who you talk to) but this guy can compete and maybe make a good rotation.
It does tend to make me believe pass-rusher is high on the 49ers list in the 2017 NFL Draft. While I may have been a bit harsh on my grades for the free agents I totally ‘get’ what they are doing and I do like what they did this offseason. I particularly like the McKinnon signing, as I told my best friend—this guy could go legendary in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
Enough of my rambling. Lets get to some links.
