The San Francisco 49ers signed guard Jonathan Cooper on Tuesday, marking their fourth addition of the NFL free agency period. The team signed center Weston Richburg and running back Jerick McKinnon on the first day of free agency, and then added edge rusher Jerry Attaochu. Add in Richard Sherman prior to the start of free agency, and it’s been a fairly productive week of work.
Are the 49ers done? Probably, but we’re not quite certain. John Lynch made an appearance on John Clayton’s radio show, and when asked about free agency, he said, “Are we done? Perhaps.” He did acknowledge the team is focusing on the draft moving forward, but that offers at least some kind of hint about something.
The 49ers were scheduled to host defensive back Jalen Watkins for a visit on Wednesday. There was no word on how the visit went, or if it was completed yet. The 49ers certainly won’t turn down a chance at a quality player coming available, but it seems likely the team is done with much of the current crop of free agents.
Listening to Lynch say perhaps on the topic did make me think of this, however.
