We haven’t touched most of the talk about NFL Combine meetings, because teams are allowed a whole lot of them, especially of the informal variety. There are a lot of rumors, a lot of speculation and the articles really aren’t that interesting. So let’s have one.
The 49ers have met with/are meeting with pass rusher Bradley Chubb at the combine on Saturday, per multiple reports, including our own Jennifer Lee Chan.
Chubb is the consensus top edge player in the draft, and would satisfy one of the bigger needs on the 49ers’ roster. There’s a very slim chance that Chubb makes it to ninth overall, but much, much stranger things have happened in the NFL Draft.
There are so many needs at quarterback, and other extremely high-quality players like Quenton Nelson and Saquon Barkley. The 49ers have also said they would be willing to move up in the right situation. Chubb going No. 2 overall is probably out of reach, but if he’s there at six or seven? It’s certainly possible.
Anyway, we’re going to keep the coverage of meetings to a minimum until everything is confirmed — if you want a massive rumor blast thrown in your face with a long list of names, that stuff is out there. If you’ve never been to the combine, there are few things more annoying than the group of people constantly shouting out and asking players if they’ve met with every single team in the league.
For now, these are the confirmed meetings from Jenn, and I’ve embedded the Niners Media Twitter list below. If there are other interesting names, I’ll probably just update this post.
