49ers Draft Rewind: 2010

Time for us to look at all those picks from long ago and where they got us now.

NFL: Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

Every year around draft time we like to look at the ghosts of drafts past and reflect on the players allocated from the draft. We luckily have video of each draft thanks to YouTube poster and 49ers fan Marvin49. We’ll be looking at every year up to 2017. Today it’s 2010.

This year makes our start to the draft rewind rather depressing, as this is the year that all of the picks from the 2010 draft are all no longer with the San Francisco 49ers. That final departure was from NaVorro Bowman. Bowman was released mid-season when the 49ers decided he was no longer a part of their long-term plans and went to the Oakland Raiders.

Bowman was the longest-tenured pick in the draft, coming in the 3rd from Penn State. Besides Bowman, the 49ers seeded what would be the best offensive line in football with their two 1st round picks for Rutgers tackle Anthony Davis and Idaho guard Mike Iupati. Even picks like Anthony Dixon made their marks at some point in the Mike Singletary/Jim Harbaugh days to come.

This draft would mark the last draft for Mike Singletary and also the first draft where Trent Baalke called the shots. After Scot McCloughan departed abruptly in the months leading up to the draft, Baalke took the reigns of the board and the 49ers went to work. In the 2011 offseason, Baalke would be officially recognized as the general manager. We all know how that turned out.

As always, the DMCA biscuits from the NFL have this thing flagged, so many of you will have to go to YouTube to watch the video. Sorry, they just don’t like us showing free film that isn’t available. By any other means.
