Sportsbook lays odds on Richard Sherman’s landing spot, 49ers mentioned

But the odds are long. Very long.

The Seattle Seahawks are releasing cornerback Richard Sherman, as we already noted, celebrated, discussed, bidet’d, etc. And we’ve speculated, too, about his potential fit with the San Francisco 49ers. I don’t think he’ll be joining the team, but he is both a scheme fit and a good locker room veteran, so I suppose anything is possible.

But if not the 49ers, where will he go? The sportsbook Bookmaker.eu laid down some odds on Sherman’s potential landing spots, and of course, the numbers are all over the place, because it’s pretty much a crap-shoot. The 49ers are on the list, but they are tied with the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons for the worst odds among all the teams listed.

The rest of the field is considered the favorite at +140, with the New England Patriots being the favorite specific team at +350. All of the Chicago Bears, Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have better odds at landing him, again, just according to these particular oddsmakers.

I certainly can’t imagine Sherman’s market being poor enough to join a team like the Browns. I wonder if the rivalry has to do with them putting the 49ers so low — a rivalry that I don’t think would be important to Sherman, who is smart and knows how the business works. Then again, I myself just said I consider it unlikely he joins the team, so maybe those fine folks are as smart as I am. Or something like that.
