A year ago last January I thought Reuben Foster would be a very good draft pick. Then the whole combine fiasco happened and I thought he would be off our board. I was very surprised and admittedly more than a bit excited when we moved up to draft him.
I felt like I was missing something when people commented about how great his interviews were. I couldn’t get past thinking he talked like a person that never made it past third grade. I could not believe that a person who had just spent four years in a higher learning institution could sound so ignorant but I seemed to be the only one that felt that way so I kept quiet thinking I must be missing something.
Then in a matter of a couple of weeks he gets arrested for marijuana, domestic violence, and possession of an illegal weapon. I was dazed and confused that the 49ers did nothing about it. I could not believe they chose to go with the double standard approach. It was against everything I thought Lynch and Shanahan stood for. Instead, out of convenience, they decided to choose the due process route.
Even though I think they have chosen a totally hypocritical double standard approach, I am happy they did because I believe in due process and have nothing but contempt for the modern internet lynch mob mentality. Let the courts figure out, that is what they are there for.
