For the 1st time since 2014, the 49ers are not getting a head start on their offseason workouts. That’s because they did not hire a new head coach this offseason. Kyle Shanahan is coming off his rookie season as the head coach and is looking to build on the end of last season. Kyle and the 49ers are the team to look out for this season according to many experts after installing Jimmy Garoppolo as quarterback and rattling off 5 straight wins to close out the 2017 season.
Now that all eyes are on Jimmy and the 49ers, Kyle has a different task ahead of him compared to last offseason. There are expectations on the team to be a contender next season. While Kyle likely expects to be a contender every season, he has to make sure that the team continues to work to get better and block out the outside noise that they are a possible Super Bowl contender. If they want to contend, they have to play better in all facets of the game.
The 49ers had recent visits from Oregon tackle Tyrell Crosby and Iowa corner Josh Jackson. Crosby is reported to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the draft. Jackson could be taken in the 1st round. Both positions are needs for the 49ers. The 49ers will also host another Iowa player in center James Daniels. Both Daniels and Jackson were former teammates of C.J. Beathard and George Kittle.
