Kyle Shanahan on hand to open the locker room for Sharks playoff game

New, comments

The Sharks are looking to close out the Anaheim Ducks.

The San Jose Sharks are home at the SAP Center looking to close out their first round series in the Stanley Cup playoffs, and they’ve got a familiar face on hand. The Sharks have someone open the locker room door for their games, and on Wednesday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was on hand to do the honors. You can watch a Sharks GIF and 49ers vide below.

The Sharks are hosting the Anaheim Ducks and lead the series 3-0. They took a 1-0 lead in Game 4. If they win the series, they will advance to face the Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights swept the Los Angeles Kings, making them the first team to sweep the opposing team in their first playoff series.

I was born in Las Vegas, and the Golden Knights are the first major league sports team for the city. The Oakland Raiders are moving down in two or three years, and people have asked if this means I’ll become a Raiders fan. That won’t be the case as I see these situations different.

I’ve been a 49ers fan since I was a kid, but never really had a hockey team. I followed the Boston Bruins (my dad’s from Boston), the Sharks, and the Washington Capitals, but I was not exactly a huge fan of any of them. Now, the Golden Knights give me an actual hometown team for the first team. The Raiders will be a Las Vegas sports franchise, but I’ve got the 49ers, and the Raiders are more of a transient team than anything else.

So, if the Sharks take care of business, I look forward to the second round!
