Who will the Bucs pick No. 7 overall? Vote here!

New, comments

We’ve seen “experts” mock out the first round. Time to do the first nine picks for ourselves.

The 2018 NFL Draft is less than a week away, which means the mock drafts are flying fast and furious as everybody offers their “expert” opinion. Plenty of people will get a handful of picks right, but it’s mostly guess work this year.

We’ll continue checking out mock drafts, but I thought we’d try something different as well. Everybody has their opinion on who each team should pick in the draft, so why not put together a vote on who will pick which players? This will go through the San Francisco 49ers pick at No. 9. With a couple days for each vote, this will carry us pretty close to the start of the draft.

In voting on this, I’d like people to vote on who they think each team will end up drafting, not necessarily who you think they “should” draft. We are not in the draft rooms, so we don’t know how each team values certain players. So who you think they will draft could very well end up being who you think they should draft. This is entirely non-scientific, so I don’t think we need to get too much into our heads.

We are through the first six picks, with the Indianapolis Colts landing offensive guard Quenton Nelson at No. 6, by an overwhelming majority. 72 percent of voters went with Nelson. Here are the results thus far.

1. Cleveland Browns - Sam Darnold, QB, USC
2. New York Giants - Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
3. New York Jets - Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
4. Cleveland Browns - Bradley Chubb, DE, N.C. State
5. Denver Broncos - Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
6. Indianapolis Colts - Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame

Now, we move on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 7. We’ll keep this open for a couple days and then open things up for the Chicago Bears. Here are the candidates at No. 7.

DB Minkah Fitzpatrick
CB Denzel Ward
LB Roquan Smith
LB Tremaine Edmunds
S Derwin James
OT Mike McGlinchey
OT Connor Williams
CB Josh Jackson

The Bucs don’t need a quarterback, and since they, the Bears, and the 49ers won’t be drafting a QB in the first round, I’ve dropped Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson from the remaining polls. I suspect a trade up or other maneuvering gets Allen and/or Jackson selected in the top ten, but not for our mock. The Bucs are another trade-down candidate.

We’ll have the remaining names on the next poll, but if you have any suggestions you think make sense for the Bears poll, let me know in the comments. If you don’t see the poll, click here.
