Day 2 mock drafts have 49ers looking wide receiver, but maybe team trades up?

New, comments

The Trent Brown trade gives them ammunition to move up.

The San Francisco 49ers head into the second day of the 2018 NFL Draft with plenty of needs to address. Tackle did not seem like a particularly big need heading into the draft, but the team was down on right tackle Trent Brown. They selected Mike McGlinchey in the first round, and then traded Brown this morning.

Mock drafts are out for the second round, and two early ones have the 49ers adding a weapon to Jimmy Garoppolo’s arsenal. SB Nation’s Dan Kadar has the 49ers selecting Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk, while ESPN has the 49ers selecting Oklahoma State wide receiver James Washington.

The 49ers have a host of needs, and they have a chance to make some noise on day two. They currently sit at pick No. 59 in the second round. They had picks No. 70 and 74 in the third round, and the Trent Brown trade brings them pick No. 95. With three picks in the third round, they could easily make a sizable climb up in round two if they have their eye on anybody in particular.
