The NFL allows each team to host a local Pro Day in April, at which point they get to work out prospects from local colleges, as well as outside college prospects that went to high school in the region. The San Francisco 49ers have not formally announced their local Pro Day date, but it sounds like it will take place on April 18th.
Dixie State QB Malik Watson will attend the #49ers local day on April 18th— NFL Draft Diamonds (@DraftDiamonds) April 4, 2018
NFL Draft Diamonds does great work tracking under the radar prospects, and they are reporting Dixie State quarterback Malik Watson will be at the 49ers Pro Day that day. They reported on Tuesday that Texas A&M Commerce cornerback Yusef Sterling-Lowe will also be attending the 49ers Pro Day.
Uso Sports tweeted that client Marloshawn Franklin (cornerback, Cal) will be working out for both the 49ers and Raiders. They said it would be next week, which would be before the Pro Day, but we’ll see if it is a separate workout, or actually part of the 49ers local Pro Day.
The 49ers will provide a full list of players who take part in the local Pro Day. The coaching staff and personnel evaluators will get a chance to put the players through their paces and get a chance to visit with those in whom they are particularly interested. The team gets 30 official visits where they bring players to Santa Clara, but the local Pro Day does not count against that total.
