The Los Angeles Rams are probably going to be pretty good this season. When you trade for Brandin Cooks, Aqib Talib, and Marcus Peters, and sign Ndamukong Suh, adding to a breakout squad that won the NFC West, expectations are going to be high.
There will be plenty of questions about the long-term viability of adding all these players. And for the coming season, questions remain as to how the team will meld all the new talent together. We’ve seen “Dream Team” type squads put together that have struggled, with the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles the most “memorable” recent version of that kind of team.
But even amidst some questions, expectations are plenty high. And oddsmakers are making adjustments accordingly. Two weeks ago, Bovada had the Rams tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers at 14/1 to win Super Bowl 53. Following the Brandin Cooks trade, the Rams now sit at 9/1 at Bovada. By comparison, the 49ers are 12/1 and the Packers remain at 14/1. The 49ers dropped to 12/1 on March 27th after some “significant sharp money” came in on them.
The draft is still to come, and plenty will happen between now and Week 1 of the regular season. That being said, for the time being, how many regular season games do you expect the Rams to win in 2018? I’m not asking if you think they’ll win the Super Bowl because the playoffs are a crap shoot. Let’s stick to just the regular season.
