It was a pretty slow weekend as far as news was concerned with the San Francisco 49ers, but the sporting world at large was busy.
For starters, the Masters has closed with Patrick Reed holding off Jordan Spieth and Rikie Fowler to win the 2018 Masters. A lot of people were tuning in to see Tiger Woods in a hopeful return to dominance, but though he made the cut, he still might have a bit of work to do. I never really got into golf besides the family bonding (my family essentially worships the sport). Watching golf on TV for me is like watching a match of Pong. Once in awhile you might find something epic, but mostly I just see the same thing over and over again. More power to you if you can enjoy it.
We also have Wrestlemania taking place this weekend. The main event looks like Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. Not sure about the rest of the card. I thought the Undertaker wrestled his last match in 2017 after he took the gear off and left it in the ring. Now they are trying to get John Cena vs. ‘Taker. I don’t get all the love for Roman Reigns either. Not sure how many times they can push him as a babyface when the fans are booing louder than Cena. I’m guessing the kids are into him and he’s selling a bunch of merchandise (which is why Cena never turned heel). A.J. Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura could be a show-stealer and I might tune in just to see that one match.
So it’s Wrestlemania tonight. What’s everyone else up to in these slow months?
Consider this an open thread for the evening to talk about whatever everyone’s been up to. Go Niners!
