Golden Nuggets: After the draft roster moves

The NFL draft is over, but the 49ers continue to add players. On Monday, they announced the addition of 7 undrafted free agents to their roster. QB Jack Heneghan, WR Steven Dunbar, TE Ross Dwelley, OL Alan Knott, OL Jamar McGloster, DL Niles Scott, and S Terrell Williams were added to the 90 man roster. They could also add CB Tarvarus McFadden according to reports. The team also announced the release of LB Jimmie Gilbert, LB Boseko Lokombo, DB Dexter McCoil, LB Donavin Newsom, and CB Channing Stribling. The roster currently sits at 83 players, 7 less than the 90 man limit. There should be more players added in the next few days.

The team also announced Monday that they will pick up the 5th year option on Arik Armstead. It was unclear if the 49ers would take the risk given the fact that Arik has had a hard time staying healthy. His last 2 seasons ended on the injured reserve list. He had a shoulder surgery in 2016 and had a hand injury last season. The option will cost the team $9 million in 2019, making Arik one of the highest paid defenders on the team. Obviously the team still thinks highly of Arik and expect him to have a big role on the defense.

In off the field news, Reuben Foster’s hearing has been delayed until May 8th. There is a video that is being reviewed from the alleged victim. Last week, the alleged victim in the domestic violence case retracted her claims against Foster. Reuben is not allowed to practice with the team until the conclusion of this hearing.
