Former San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary has found himself a new pro football head coaching job! The newly formed Alliance of American Football, which kicks off its inaugural season in February 2019, is hiring Singletary to coach the Memphis team.
The league is being launched by former NFL executive Bill Polian and TV executive Charlie Ebersol, and games will air on CBS starting the weekend after the Super Bowl. The Memphis team joins Orlando (coached by Steve Spurrier) and Atlanta (coached by Brad Childress, Michael Vick as an assistant coach) in the newly formed league.
Singletary has been working to get back into coaching, most recently serving as head coach at Trinity Christian-Addison High School.
Really, this is just an excuse to roll out an oldie but a goodie.
