Golden Nuggets: Reuben’s hearing on Thursday

Reuben Foster has a preliminary hearing coming up on Thursday. At the hearing, it is expected that Reuben’s ex-girlfriend will testify. According to reports, she is expected to testify that Reuben did not injure her during the incident that led to his arrest in February. He was arrested on domestic violence charges and the victim told the police that Reuben caused her injuries. But a couple of weeks ago, she recanted that statement through her lawyer. Her statement stated that her injuries actually came because of a road rage incident and there was video of the incident.

Reuben is facing 3 charges from that domestic violence incident. While his ex’s new statement helps him, the case could still move on to trial. If there is enough evidence of probable cause, the judge could move this forward to trial. Reuben will hope it is proven that he did not cause her injuries. His 49ers’ career depends on it as GM John Lynch made clear. If he is found to have hit his ex-girlfriend, Lynch said the team would move on from him.

On Tuesday, the 49ers claimed C.J. Goodwin off of waivers. He finished last season with the Arizona Cardinals. He will compete to add cornerback depth. The team also signed defensive lineman Blaine Woodson. Lastly, they released WR DeAndre Carter.
