San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is a big fan of hip hop, and apparently it has influenced his life to a pretty significant degree. His friend and former college teammate Chris Simms said on Thursday that Shanahan actually named his son, Carter, after rapper Lil Wayne (born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.).

The topic came up because of an event this past week. Shanahan was on hand for Bellator 199 at SAP Center in San Jose, taking in the event with George Kittle, Jimmy Garoppolo, Trent Taylor, Garrett Celek, and C.J. Beathard. Carter Shanahan was on hand as well, and they were all joined at one point by 50 Cent.
Whether you’re a fan of Lil Wayne or not, this is probably my favorite story of the day.
