Golden Nuggets: Early offensive roster projections

Mock draft season is over and we now move on to roster projection season. The 49ers will continue adding to the roster so it will change as players come and go. This team has gone through huge changes since last offseason. This team will look much different from the one that started the season last year.

The star of the team starts at quarterback. Unlike last offseason where there was a competition to see who would start, Jimmy Garoppolo is the unquestioned starter. In the backfield, Kyle Juszczyk is the fullback, but the running back will be done by committee. Jerick McKinnon is the playmaker and starter. Matt Brieda will share carries and Joe Williams should get some carries after missing last season. George Kittle and Garrett Celek will both getting snaps at tight end. And at receiver, Pierre Garcon returns with Marquise Goodwin. The team drafted Dante Pettis, so he will likely get some snaps. Joining these 3 will likely be Trent Taylor, Kendrick Bourne, and Aldrick Robinson. This group has the biggest competition for spots with 12 players currently on the roster.

Protecting Jimmy Garoppolo has been a major priority this offseason. Stalwart Joe Staley was rewarded with a raise. The 49ers drafted Mike McGlinchey with their 1st pick in the draft and there will be a lot of pressure on him to perform immediately. Weston Richburg signed as a free agent and he will be Jimmy’s center. At the guard spots, there should be a battle for the starting job. Joshua Garnett will be back and the team signed Jonathan Cooper. Erik Magnuson and Laken Tomlinson round out the competitors.
