Running down the 49ers UDFA guaranteed money

The 49ers signed 13 UDFAs. We’ve got some numbers on 9 of them.

The San Francisco 49ers kicked off their rookie minicamp on Friday, with a mix of draft picks, undrafted free agents, and tryout candidates.

The tryout candidates have received no guaranteed money thus far, and are simply looking to earn an invite to training camp. The draft picks have not signed their rookie deals yet, but will get them done over the next month or two.

That leaves the UDFAs. They have all signed their initial contracts, thus getting any signing bonus money they have agreed to. Our man Jason Hurley has an early look at the guaranteed money nine of them are receiving.

Tarvarus McFadden: $90,000 ($20,000 signing bonus, $70,000 base)
Coleman Shelton: $40,000 ($20,000 signing bonus, $20,000 base)
Emmanuel Moseley: $30,000 ($15,000 signing bonus, $15,000 base)
Ross Dwelley $27,000 ($7,000 signing bonus, $20,000 base)
Steven Dunbar: $14,000 ($9,000 signing bonus, $5,000 base)
Jeffery Wilson: $10,000 signing bonus
Jamar McGloster: $8,000 ($2,000 signing bonus, $6,000 base)
Najee Toran: $6,000 ($4,000 signing bonus, $2,000 base)
Alan Knott: $3,000 signing bonus
Corey Griffin: $5,000 signing bonus
Terrell Williams: $5,000 signing bonus
Niles Scott $1,000 signing bonus

The signing bonus is paid up front. The base guarantee is paid later this year once their roster status is determined. If they make the 53-man roster, it is part of their likely league minimum salary. If they are cut and then signed to the practice squad, their practice squad salary usually offsets the guarantee. And if they are cut and not signed to the practice squad, they will just get a check for the base guarantee, assuming they agreed to one.
