The San Francisco 49ers wrapped up their OTAs this past Thursday, and this coming week they will close out the 2018 offseason workout program. The team has a mandatory minicamp scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday, June 12th to 14th.
OTAs and the rest of the offseason workout program are voluntary, although players often negotiate workout bonuses in their contract. This minicamp, however, is a mandatory three-day period to close out the program. If a player chooses not to attend, the team, can fine him each day he is absent. Mandatory minicamp absences are often related to contract disputes. It would appear there are no such issues for the 49ers at this point.
The 49ers will hold three days of work, but only two days will have media availability. Kyle Shanahan will speak to the media Tuesday and Wednesday, with both expected to be streamed by the team. There will also be limited player availability. Jennifer Chan will be on hand and we’ll have plenty of coverage from the practices and media availability. Once minicamp ends, the team will go their separates ways until training camp gets started in late July.
