Golden Nuggets: Mandatory Minicamp Starts Tuesday

A daily compilation of 49ers news from around the net. Monday, June 11th, 2018 edition.

NFL: San Franciso 49ers-OTA Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The team concluded the OTA portion of the Phase 3 practices last Thursday, and will begin the mandatory minicamp portion this upcoming Tuesday. Today’s schedule includes physical exams for the players, with no practice sessions. However, the upcoming three days will be nothing but practices, with two of those days being two-a-days as outlined by the CBA. The rules for minicamp are basically the same as the rules for OTAs regarding what the players can and cannot do - no pads except for helmets are permitted, live contact is forbidden, one-on-one drills are forbidden.

After this, we enter the dog days of the offseason, the swampy morass of roughly 7 weeks with the only news being player arrests and failed drug tests. Training Camp will convene at some point near the end of July, and the dates are usually announced some time shortly beforehand. I can’t promise that we’ll learn anything of significant from this week’s minicamp, but I can promise that it’s about to get really boring around here for a while - so savor the news while you can.
