Well, the period of slow news got shattered when the NFL announced the four-game suspension of Victor Bolden Jr.
I’ve already said that I saw Bolden with a long uphill battle to get a roster spot with the now-deep wide receiver corps. Now, as many of you have said, this really may already solidify his imminent cut.
On another note, I’m still trying to figure out how you get “contaminated” creatine. To be fair, I’m not exactly knowledgeable in supplements beyond the high-protein whey shake after I get done lifting weights. I know creatine is available at a local supplement store, just never heard of it being contaminated. Obviously Bolden is not too happy about a contaminated supplement because he’s looking for legal action.
For those of you who don’t know what creatine is, here’s a good video breaking everything down.
Regardless of any of this, a suspension isn’t going to help Bolden’s already thin chances in training camp. While John Lynch issues a statement in support, one has to wonder how long Bolden has on the roster/training camp before the 49ers have simply seen enough. Though maybe they can find a way to put him on the practice squad or something. No team is going to want to burn a roster spot for a guy going into a 4-game suspension. Bolden was one of my favorite rookies last year, but Odell Beckham Jr. he isn’t.
