Free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant has yet to sign with a new team since the Dallas Cowboys released him, and odds are pretty good he will remain unsigned until the start of training camp, or shortly before.
In the meantime, oddsmakers are still offering some opportunities to wager on his final destination. The latest odds come courtesy of YouWager.eu (h/t SportsLine), which has a new name up top. The Tennessee Titans are listed as sizable favorites at -200 (bet $200 to win $100, followed by the Houston Texans at +200 (bet $100 to win $200). The New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, and Washington follow, and then we come to the San Francisco 49ers, installed at +600.
Bryant showed some interest in the 49ers on Instagram back in late May. A few days later, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that GM John Lynch respected Bryant, but was excited about the 49ers wide receiver corps. Pelissero offered a “never say never,” but he said it was, “unlikely to go down that road for now.”
The Titans could use wide receiver depth for Marcus Mariota, so that would not be the most shocking of options. The Texans could use some depth, but they’ve got some significant young talent as is. Maybe they look to bring him in to compete, but with the hope that their younger players beat him out. As for the Giants? Given how poorly the Brandon Marshall experience worked out for them, I’m skeptical they bring in another aging veteran.
Green Bay and Washington both intrigue me. The latter because I can see Dan Snyder pushing for it. The former because, while they would probably be fine with their current group, I could see them looking for a little more competition.
Where do you think Dez ends up when Week 1 of the 2018 regular season gets underway?
