Dwight Clark passed away Monday after a battle with ALS and it’s not going unnoticed. The Twittersphere broke out with 49ers players, both current and former, along with the NFL at large paying their respects. I figured I’d just add a portion of the tweets. This is in no way encompassing the massive respect shown towards Clark, so we’ll try and update things as the week goes on.
We’ll start with this:
Watching "The Catch" on repeat tonight.

Dwight Clark may have been the most humble star the NFL has ever produced. Yes he was fun and funny, but Dwight had an innate goodness to him that will never be forgotten by those who had the good fortune to know him. May God bless Dwight and his family.

I was on sidelines for The Catch. 8 years later at SB24 after SF beat DEN 55-10, I waited for taxi back to hotel. One pulls up, window rolls down. "Get in Gil!" It was Dwight Clark. I told him how he broke my ❤. We laughed. All was good between us. Dwight made sure of it. RIP.

Celebrating the life of the great Dwight Clark is the kind of story that once again is getting lost in the tidal wave of negative news that seems to be all too common. This country needs heroes. Dwight Clark was a football HERO! Honor him! #49ers #NFL

So sad to hear of Dwight Clark’s passing. As a young player at @Stanford I would watch the @49ers games and study everything he did. His style of play had a huge impact on my game. Always enjoyed being around him. Peace to Kelly and his family.

I’m going to spend more time grieving the loss of Dwight Clark and remembering him at his best than deliberating rights and wrongs of the Eagles vs Trump.

Anyone in life should be so fortunate to feel the bear hug of love Dwight Clark felt in his final year on Earth. How he and his 49ers teammates treated each other in saying goodbye is forever an inspiration to us all.

The Catch was Football's equivalent of Hulk Hogan bodyslamming Andre the Giant. It hasn't been done before, and 49ers fans will never see something like it again.

Terrible loss. One of my prized possessions is a helmet signed by Dwight Clark & Joe Montana, that has the play that led to the Catch drawn on it. https://t.co/GEMVpWIKIa
