EA Sports formally announced Madden 19 ratings on Tuesday, and almost all the San Francisco 49ers players have been formally rated. A few of the end of the roster players are not listed, including fullback Malcolm Johnson, defensive lineman Blaine Woodson, and right tight end Ross Dwelley, but the notable players are all here. You can review the 49ers ratings here.
Last month, some ratings leaked but it turned out EA Sports had purposely released some fake ratings. These new ratings for the top ten players are somewhat similar, but there are some notable differences.
Previously, DeForest Buckner had an 81 rating and ranked seventh on the roster. On the real ratings, he has an 86 rating and is tied with Pierre Garçon for fourth. Joe Staley and Richard Sherman are tied atop the list with ratings of 90, followed by Reuben Foster at 87. The full top ten are as follows:
1. Richard Sherman: 90
1. Joe Staley: 90
3. Reuben Foster: 87
4. DeForest Buckner: 86
4. Pierre Garçon: 86
6. Robbie Gould: 85
7. Jerick McKinnon: 85
8. Kyle Juszczyk: 84
9. Jimmy Garoppolo: 83
10. Marquise Goodwin: 83
11. Jaquiski Tartt: 83
I’m not entirely sure how EA Sports handles some of these player ratings. For example, punter Jeff Locke has a 73 rating. He’s made a career for himself in the NFL, but that seems a bit high. On the other end, offensive lineman Erik Magnuson has a rating of 63, which is tied with cornerback Emmanuel Moseley for third worst on the team. Only wide receiver Max McCaffrey (61) and long snapper Kyle Nelson (43) are lower. Magnuson is a year removed from being a UDFA, but he had a solid rookie season, and would seem to have a decent chance at earning a roster spot.
