Morning, folks. We’ve got a fairly decent slate of readings for the day - one player overview, one stroll down memory lane, and one piece hyping up the expectations for this year’s team.
The All-Time 53-man Roster article is a really fun read, but if you don’t want to go through the hassle of the slideshow, I’ll try to save you a few clicks. Jesse Sapolu is a reserve, Joe Montana starts over Steve Young, Frank Gore starts over Roger Craig, Deion Sanders was included (but as a reserve), Joe Nedney is apparently our best kicker of all time (too soon for Jose Cortez jokes?), and most surprisingly to me, and clearly a deal-breaker, the absence of Jeff Ulbrich.
It seems like an absolute blast of an exercise to go through, and I’d be pretty happy to see your guys’ thoughts and exceptions. Other than the previously mentioned GOAT Jeff Ulbrich, I’d drop Ken Willard as a FB, and substitute either William Floyd or Tom Rathman (who I never saw play, but heard he was awesome). Or, perhaps, find a way to get Derrick Deese somewhere in there.
The “10 reasons” slideshow is a very good read, as well, and is guaranteed to get your homer flag a-flyin’. Included is some statistical cherrypicking, some basking in the schadenfreude, and most importantly, the planting of some thought seeds that the LA Rams are destined to fly off the rails with the multitude of enormous personalities added to the team. It’s a feel good article, and a great way to start your Monday.
