The San Francisco 49ers have just about locked up their rookie contracts. They took care of tackle Mike McGlinchey on Sunday, and now all that’s left is second round pick wide receiver Dante Pettis. It’s not a hold-out yet as rookies and veterans are due to report to camp on Wednesday. More than likely they are tweaking the final bits of language.
If you want any proof of this, Matt Maiocco reported that Pettis has in fact arrived in Santa Clara on Monday night. If Pettis legitimately thought there was going to be a delay in his contract or had concerns, I doubt he’d be showing up two days before everyone is required to report to training camp. If a deal doesn’t get done today it is technically a holdout, but with their first practice set for Thursday, they’ve got time. I would not be surprised if we see something get done during the day on Wednesday.
No need to panic. Yet.
