A wide receiver dropped a pass, a linebacker missed a tackle, an offensive lineman missed a block. You would think I was talking about the losing effort in the Super Bowl rather than the first day of training camp without pads. I know everyone is hungry for football but we need to settle down. Pettis is not going to lose his place on the roster because someone took the ball away from him on the first day of practice.
Don’t get me wrong, it is great to see our players back on the field, . I am very excited about signing, Sherman, McKinnon, Richburg, and Attaochu. I can’t wait to see how our draft picks do and if Garnett can become a decent guard in our zone blocking scheme. I just think it may take a few weeks to sort things out and a dropped pass or an interception on the first or second day of practice is not anything to base a player’s future on.
We have links to pictures, highlights, camp notes, recaps, and observations for day one posted below with even a little Grant Cohn thrown in for those with a sense of humor. Enjoy the reading.
