49ers talking with UDFA cornerback Devron Davis about a roster spot

The San Francisco 49ers 90-man roster is just about settled, but we could see a change or two as training camp approaches. Undrafted free agent cornerback Devron Davis is talking to the 49ers, according to 247 Sports’ Kevin Boilard.

Davis has been on the 49ers radar for some time. The team had a scout meet with Davis last August following a University of Texas-San Antonio practice. Back in April, he spoke with Jennifer Chan about the 49ers interest, and told Draft Wire he had a workout planned with the team (h/t 49ers Webzone). Davis got a tryout with with Baltimore Ravens following the draft, but nothing ever came of that.

Over the weekend, I put together an updated cornerback bubble watch. If the 49ers work something out with Davis, they could release someone from virtually any position to make space on the 90-man roster. But for our purposes, here’s the full list of cornerbacks from our bubble watch. Moseley would seem the most likely candidate to be released, but maybe they make a move at another position.

Lock: Richard Sherman, Ahkello Witherspoon, Jimmie Ward, Tarvarius Moore
Strong Bubble: K’Waun Williams, Greg Mabin, D.J. Reed, Tyvis Powell
Weak Bubble: Trovon Reed, Tarvarus McFadden, C.J. Goodwin
Longshot: Emmanuel Moseley
