2017 was a very emotional year for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. He played through personal losses and won over fans’ hearts in the process. He played the morning after his child was stillborn and again later in the season after learning of the passing of his biological father. He showed his incredible compassion to a Make A Wish visitor who was confined to a wheelchair. This offseason Goodwin continued sharing his emotionally charged life on Instagram.
Goodwin, in dramatic fashion, blindfolded his mother and sister, who is also confined to a wheelchair, walked them down a red carpet and revealed a new house for he had purchased for them. His mother’s reaction, in slow motion, is pure unbridled joy and is definitely a must watch.
Goodwin became very sizable part of the 49ers offense when Pierre Garçon’s was placed on IR due to a season ending neck injury. Goodwin nearly hit the 1,000 yard mark for the season but his final game was cut short due to a concussion sustained in Los Angeles facing the Rams. He still recorded career highs with 56 receptions and 962 yards. He ranked third in the league with an average of 17.2 yards per reception
The front office rewarded Goodwin with a $20.3 million dollar contract that will keep him in red and gold through the 2021 season.
