Kyle Shanahan unsure the extent of George Kittle/Matt Breida injuries, but says they will miss some time

Cross your fingers

The San Francisco 49ers had a wild finish to their first preseason game of the year, beating the Dallas Cowboys in the final seconds. For such a bad football game, the last two minutes made it serviceable.

The victory unfortunately, was not without some injuries. A lot of injuries. Defensive tackle Solomon Thomas and offensive tackle Gary Gilliam went down with concussions while Eli Harold limped off the field with what Shanahan says is a lower body injury.

Beyond the concussions, there are concerning injuries to running back Matt Breida and tight end George Kittle. Both went down awkwardly with Kittle (shoulder) slow to get up after an inaccurate Jimmy Garoppolo throw and Breida went down on his shoulder, taking several minutes to get up.

In his press conference Thursday evening, Shanahan didn’t have the injury report on-hand to discuss what the issues were but said Breida and Kittle both will miss some time. He doesn’t expect either back next week

The good news is, our own Jennifer Lee Chan found Breida walking around without a support/sling. That doesn’t mean much this early, but hopefully he’s not in as bad of shape as the injury looked.

We’ll be sure to update on how severe each of these injuries are once more information becomes available.
