Top plays of the day from 8/13

The 49ers held heat last open practice in Santa Clara and we have your top plays of the day

NFL: San Francisco 49ers-Training Camp Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The 49ers held their last open practice in Santa Clara in front of a slightly smaller crowd. It was the first non padded practice we’ve seen in a while, but that’s because they will likely be in pads for both joint practices with the Texans.

Here are your top plays of the day for 8/13

Pettis has moves

In 11-on-11s Dante Pettis caught a C.J. Beathard pass while he was covered by Emmanuel Moseley for about 10 yards. What was most impressive were the yards after catch that Pettis got swerving around defenders for a impressive gain.

Garoppolo to Hikutini

In red zone drills Jimmy Garoppolo took the snap and let the play develop. He found Cole Hikutini at the very back of the end zone running from left to right for a touchdown. He was being covered by Adrian Colbert.

Colbert gets some revenge

About 10 plays after missing the above play, Colbert reached out and got his hands on a pass that Garopplo had intended for Richie James in the end zone for a PBU.

Like he never left

While Richard Sherman only played a couple of snaps in the first session of 11-on-11s, he participated in many of the red zone drills. Garoppolo targeted Kendrick Bourne at the very right side of the goal line but Sherman saw it coming, reached out and swatted down the pass for a PBU.

It’s Celek Time

During move the ball drills Garoppolo completed a more than 20 yard pass to Garrett Celek, dropped it perfectly over his right shoulder as Celek was running towards the right sidelines. He was being covered by Cassius Marsh.

Taylor is back

Two plays after the Celek catch, Garoppolo targeted Trent Taylor who is back in full practice mode. The pass was short and right down the middle and resulted in a touchdown. Brock Coyle was in coverage and DeForest Buckner was near by.

Ending with a bang

Practice ended with a long bomb of a pass from Nick Mullens to Aaron Burbridge that resulted in a touchdown. Tarvarus McFadden was in coverage but Burbridge held on for the score.
